As many of you know, our sister and friend Jill Gentry is contending with cancer. As she continues her journey to healing, many of us desire to come alongside her and offer support, encouragement, and comfort. As followers of Jesus, one powerful tool we have is fasting and prayer. This can take many forms, and there is no set of rules to adhere to, but one primary example of fasting in the Bible is the practice of abstaining from food for a period of time. We set aside time we would normally spend gathering, preparing, enjoying, and putting away food, and instead devote ourselves to communion with God in prayer.
Consider joining the church-wide fast for Jill (and any others who come to mind who need healing or help of any sort) beginning Good Friday at 3 p.m., and breaking the fast Sunday morning, in honor of the time Jesus spent in the tomb. During these hours--exactly 40 if you break your fast Sunday at 7 a.m.--we will devote ourselves to prayer for Jill's healing.
There will be a text group for anyone interested, and I’ll send encouragement and love throughout the daylight hours of our fast so we can stay connected.

All love and shalom to you and yours,
Anni Evans
